Signs of Aspen
The small town of Aspen is a beautiful if somewhat unusual place to visit. The gorgeous mountain setting is something you’d never tire of, but the town is quirky. It’s a blend of hippy, cowboy, the frontier, and recently a lot of Hollywood (I don’t believe I’ve ever driven by an airport with more private jets parked in it than Aspen airport). Aspen’s transformed itself from being a rather simple mountain town to an upscale trendy resort.
The town is well know for it’s great winter skiing and in the summer has become a popular family vacation destination. It’s got excellent restaurants, all types of shops, and lots of outdoor activities. For me it’s a fun day-trip destination.

Gasoline Alley, Calgary: The World’s largest collection of Car-related Signs and Pumps
Little did I know when I moved to Calgary a few years ago that this city has one of the finest car museums in North America. Situated in a 75,000 sq ft building known as “Gasoline Alley”, within Heritage Park, is a collection donated by local oil and gas businessman, Ron Carey. Mr. Carey collected and restored the 67 vehicles he gave to the city, many of which are trucks. But perhaps the real highlight of his gift is what’s said to be the largest collection of petroliana in the world — restored pumps and automotive-related signage.

Signs of Charleston
I enjoy looking at small things in places I visit, such as the signage of a city. Among the best urban walks in North America is the area “South of Broad” in beautiful historic Charleston, past wonderful old mansions, most meticulously and loving preserved. There are some businesses here, but most of the businesses are “North of Broad”. This photo gallery has an assortment of signs that I found interesting in the city. I hope you enjoy it.

Downtown Las Vegas
Las Vegas is one of the most loved — and despised — travel destinations in the world. Some folks bask in and are energyzed by its non-stop action and adrenaline, the gambling, the booze, the neon lights — everything you imagine when you think of Vegas. Others visit once and never want to set foot in the city again. I’m sort of in between these extremes. I enjoy Vegas, especially if I’m there to meet friends or family, but only for short periods of time (a weekend visit is about perfect for me).

Signs of Waikiki
There’s a lot you can tell about a city simply by looking at small things, like its signage or public art. Every city has unique and interesting shops and landmarks that add to its personality.
Today I’d like to share with you some of the signage and street art we saw in Waikiki Beach on a recent visit. Waikiki is a fairly unique place. Almost exclusively catering to tourists, the facilities and services are aimed at its thousands of visitors. Still, you’ll see some of Honolulu’s many citizens enjoying the sand on the beach, or having dinner at one of the restaurants, or walking by the beach. Signs of Toronto
Toronto is one of Canada’s great cities. Often called the “New York of the North” (I presume as a complement), it’s a fun place to visit. There’s lots to see and do in Toronto, from the amazing CN Tower which soars 1815 ft (553 m) into the clouds, to enjoying great architecture, to endulging in a large assortmant of great restaurants and markets.
